Hi,
X-mas time is over and after quite
a long time I´m back and this time I´d like to write something about a special
programme for accompanying spouses. This programme is available for all spouses
of foreigners employed in Denmark.
I´ve joined this programme since
I came to Denmark. I was offered this at the international citizen office while
applying for residecne in Denmark.
The Spouse Programme offers a number of job search related group sessions. The sessions mainly address how to apply for a
job in Denmark and provide a number of useful tools in relation to a job search.
Programme takes 6 months and is
organised by „workindenmark“ organisation.
Part
of the Spouse Programme are seminars:
·
CV and Cover
Letter and individual feedback
·
Introduction to
internships and wage subsidy
·
LinkedIn workshop
·
How to search for
enterprises (How to approach the enterprises)
·
Job interviews
I´ve
attended all of them so far except LinkedIn seminar. I´m still not fully
persuaded weather I really need it. Although everybody in Denmark is telling me
that it´s super usefull here. At the moment I made myself LinkedIn profile. I´m
not a big fan of this, but let´s give it a try.
I
found most of these seminars very good, especially CV and cover letter, where
you get a help on how to write excellent CV and cover letter. Another one which
was interesting was a seminar for job interview where we had actual interview
and feedback on it. I was super nervous (more than in a normal interview) since
there were other 8 people watching me all the time and giving feedback at the
end. Super scary feeling for me but now I think it was a good
experience.
I´m
impressed how Denmark is actively helping to immigrants to integrate into their
society and honestly this didn´t exist in Finland at all. On the other hand, in
Finland I found job after 7 weeks living there, here I´m already 3 months
unemployed and doesn´t seem to be getting anywhere so far.
Luckily
Danish active integration system has another tool how to keep me occupied. I´m
entitled to 3 years of FREE Danish language lessons. I can choose between day
or evening courses, where the day courses are much more intense. They have
overtalked me to join the day courses. Honestly, ….I feel like back at elementary
school. Studying history of Denmark, geography etc. So not just a language.
Three times a week, 8-14.
The
most important part of these activities for me is to get connected, get
some people to talk to, or at least to be around. NOT TO BE LONELY. My biggest
enemy at the moment.
I
hope you had a lovely holidays and wish you all the best to the year 2015.
Bodlina
PS: Add a photo to your CV if you don´t have it there yet, they say it looks good :-)
